يُتقن كثيرٌ من المتعلّمين فكّ الرموز ونطقها، لكنّهم يعجزون عن فهم ما يقرؤون أو تحليله أو الإفادة منه.

ويضاعف من حدّتها ندرةُ المحتوى العربيّ المتدرّج المبنيّ على أسسٍ علمية: فالمعلّم يؤلّف مادته بنفسه أو يستعير نصوصًا غير مضبوطة المستوى، والمدرسة تفتقر إلى منهجٍ قرائيٍّ متّسق عبر المراحل.

It is widened by a scarcity of graded, research-based Arabic content: teachers often author their own material or borrow texts of uneven level, and schools lack a coherent literacy curriculum across stages.

وُلدت بَيَان من ملاحظةٍ بسيطة وعميقة: أنّ تعليم الطفل القراءةَ شيءٌ، وتعليمَه الفهمَ شيءٌ آخر.

Bayan was born of a simple, deep observation: teaching a child to read is one thing; teaching them to understand is another.

القرائية هي البوابة الأولى لكلّ تعلّم، وضعفها يُعيق المتعلّم في كلّ المواد لا في اللغة وحدها. لذا قامت بَيَان على هذا المبدأ الناظم — فلا قيمة لقراءةٍ لا يُبنى عليها فهمٌ، ولا يَنتج عنها تفاعلٌ مع النصّ.
